Early Years’ visit Mead Open Farm

24 May 2024

Our Early Years’ boys embarked upon a day trip to Mead Open Farm in Leighton Buzzard, which was a first Beacon school trip for our Nursery boys!

They boarded the coach in the morning, leaving the school filled with excitement. Upon arrival, the boys delved into the map of the farm, setting off to explore everything that was on offer!

The bunny hop was the first stop, and the boys were thrilled to get up close to stroke some of the friendly rabbits. They were then able to feed the goats, much to their delight! Some of the boys remarked that the goats were extremely greedy!

Following a visit to many barn animals, the boys went on an adventurous (and bumpy) tractor and trailer ride around the woods and fields at the back of the farm. All our Beacon boys had fun spotting animals along the way. After the ride, it was time to bottle feed the lambs. The boys commented on how strong the lambs were. They were excited to see how happy they were to have their milk!

It was then time to stop for lunch in the picnic barn, re-fulling ready for an action-packed afternoon! After lunch, the boys each had a turn at grooming a very patient Shetland pony called Teddy. The final animal stop was a visit to the pigs before ending the afternoon with free time to explore the adventure play and sand area. The boys climbed in diggers, dumpers and tractors, made trenches and dug giant holes!

A fantastic school trip, thoroughly enjoyed by all! And an exhausted group of boys at the end of such a busy day!
