The Beacon’s 90th Birthday & Mr Skea’s Retirement Party

Huge thanks to everyone who joined us at our Beacon Alumni Reunion and Retirement Party for James Skea on Saturday 17 June 2023. James was delighted to see so many of his former pupils and colleagues again. We hope that you all had a great time and enjoy the photos from the day.

1940s and 1950s Alumni Reunion

We were delighted to welcome two dozen former pupils from the 1940s and 1950s back to The Beacon for a very special reunion on Thursday 16 March 2023. For some of our guests, it was their first time back to the school in over 60 years!

Lunch in the school’s ‘new’ Dining Hall was a far more pleasant experience than many remembered, and there was considerable relief that cabbage, tapioca and rice puddings were no longer on the menu!

We loved hearing our alumni’s stories and recollections and gleaned fascinating insights into how The Beacon was in the past. Our Upper School boys also enjoyed sharing some of their experiences of The Beacon in the 21st century whilst giving tours around the school. It was a reminder for all of us as to how much the school has grown and changed over the years. We hope you enjoy the photos below.

Frazer Thomas’ Retirement Party & Beacon Reunion

We were thrilled to welcome back almost 400 former pupils, parents and staff, including three former Headmasters and our Headmaster elect, at our Beacon Reunion and Retirement Party for Mr Frazer Thomas on Saturday 2 July 2022. Huge thanks to everyone who came and joined us on the day. We know that some of you travelled significant distances to be there and that, for others, it was your first time back to The Beacon in many decades!

The day was a fitting tribute to Mr Frazer Thomas, who retired from The Beacon in the summer of 2021 after 38 years of devoted service, and we are so pleased to have finally been able to give Frazer the send-off he deserves. We know that he thoroughly enjoyed seeing so many of his former pupils and colleagues, and we hope that all our guests enjoyed the day too, catching up with contemporaries and taking in some of the changes that have taken place at the school.

Below are some photographs of the day which we hope you will enjoy.
