The delicious food at The Beacon is provided by Wilson Vale Catering who work closely with us to tailor healthy menus and snacks to the tastes and preferences of our boys. Wilson Vale is a privately-owned catering company that has developed a reputation for delivering excellent standards.
The Beacon is committed to providing our boys with nutritious, exciting, well-balanced food, using fresh and locally-sourced ingredients, created on site. Our goal is to instil an appreciation and understanding of fresh, healthy food at a young age that will positively influence our boys throughout their life.
Our menus are developed on a weekly basis to take advantage of seasonal produce. Boys in our Breakfast Club enjoy a cooked or continental breakfast and fresh fruit. Our lunch consists of two main courses (including a vegetarian option), a full salad bar, hot dessert, fruit and yoghurt pots. Our range of homemade breads, desserts, cakes, biscuits, smoothies and yoghurts is freshly made every day. All of our food is free from artificial additives, preservatives, E numbers and hydrogenated fats and we only use free-range eggs.
We are committed to improving our sustainability, and all our waste is recycled (or composted). As most of our food is cooked on site using local ingredients, our requirement for packaging is reduced. However, 100% of our plastic packaging is now fully recyclable or biodegradable.
Our amazing catering team are constantly devising inventive ways to encourage our boys to try new tastes, flavours and cuisines. Their break time ‘Taste Buddies’ initiative, featuring healthy creations such as edible gardens, have been particularly effective. Further interest is created with themed lunches such as Chinese New Year, Italian or Harry Potter days.
The Beacon cater for all special diets and allergies (we are a no-nut school), and we work closely with the boys and their families to address individual dietary needs.
