Learning to Balance Budgets

21 November 2023

In a series of Maths lessons based around the practical application of numeracy skills, our Year 6 boys have been engaged in a comprehensive module on budgeting and managing everyday finances.

This program is aimed to give the children an opportunity to explore their own attitudes towards money, while also gaining key financial skills. At The Beacon, we firmly believe that embedding financial education in the classroom is essential to fostering a generation of responsible and financially literate individuals. By providing real-world scenarios and practical exercises, our teachers encouraged the boys to not only grasp theoretical concepts but also learn how to apply them in their day-to-day lives; like creating a sensible food budget, avoiding debt, and prioritise saving.

Financial education is a vital aspect of personal development, and we are dedicated to fostering a sense of responsibility and capability in our boys. By instilling these skills at a young age, we aim to empower them to make informed decisions about their finances as they grow older. We encourage our Beacon parents to discuss basic financial education with their children and reinforce the importance of responsible financial behaviour real world.
