Rainforest Day

17 January 2023

The Spring Term has begun and our Years 1 and 2 boys have started learning all about the rainforest. To bring the topic to life, their teachers organised ‘Wild Science‘ to visit The Beacon to show our boys some of their friendly creatures. They brought in a variety of rainforest animals to school, from a green tree frog to a giant millipede. The boys were educated on each of them and were excited to have the opportunity to hold or touch them (with exception to the scorpion!). They asked lots of interesting questions and were pleasantly surprised by how calm and friendly Sir Pent the snake was!

Our Reception and Nursery boys have been learning Incy Wincy Spider in their lessons this week and Wild Science were kind enough to bring in a Tarantula for the boys to see up close. They learnt why tarantulas are so hairy and what kinds of food they eat.

A big thank you to Wild Science for visiting The Beacon and showing our boys all the friendly creatures.
