Sensational Sweet Bowls In DT

7 May 2021

Our Year 6 boys have been working really hard to produce their sweet bowls this term. The boys have learnt about the processes that can be used when working with plastic. They discovered that the base of the bowl consists of material used from reused board products. These then get cut into interesting shapes and covered with plastic using a process called vacuum forming.

The boys are making the bowls out of acrylic plastic and the edges will soon be finished with a high gloss. They will press form the plastic into an interesting shape before it is screwed onto the base. All plastic used can be recycled, but we hope the bowls will be proudly kept by our Year 6 boys!

The boys have been documenting their work and uploading pictures to the online platform, Seesaw, so they can look back and analyse the process.

We hope you enjoy the gallery below of the boys working really hard to produce their sweet bowls…watch this space for the finished results!
