Beacon Young Reporters 2026

Journalists for the Day

As part of our Upper School Shining Future Programme, our Year 8 pupils spent the day stepping into the role of journalists by researching, planning and writing their own articles for our Beacon Young Reporter Day.

After exploring current affairs from around the world, they worked independently or in teams to develop fresh angles on real news stories. From conducting interviews and planning their articles to meeting tight deadlines, they embraced every aspect of the journalistic process with a great amount of professionalism.

The range of topics covered was impressive too, including the use of AI in education, the psychology of cricket and the rise of young entrepreneurs. We were delighted by the depth of research, critical thinking and high-quality writing demonstrated throughout the day. Well done, Year 8!
