Sports Highlights Week 28 2025

U13C Cricket vs Beechwood Park

On Wednesday afternoon, the U13 C’s opened up their cricket season against Beechwood Park, who won the toss and elected to bowl first. Our opening pair of Dylan J and Lithum A put on 16 runs for their 4 overs, which got us off to a good start. Eeshan K got into double figures with 13 runs but it was our captain, Berik I, who stole the show with the bat and amassed a brilliant 41 runs – hitting 3 sixes along the way. Unfortunately, we lost 9 wickets during our innings, which reduced our total by 45 runs and we finished with a total on 121 runs. This amount of wickets proved costly.

In the field, the boys did well but our level of bowling was a little too inconsistent, which meant Beechwood got ahead of the run rate and were consistently about 20 runs ahead at the end of each pair. Our bowling at the death did put some pressure on but we only managed 4 wickets throughout, and the opposition were adept enough at batting to see it out and we finished losing by 22 runs.

As their coach said afterwards, there were plenty of learnings to take away from our first game and the need to practise our bowling is evident as well as our ability to punish any bad balls delivered. But, moving forward, the importance of not giving away your wicket cheaply is the big one.

A good start to the season and well done, boys.

Caldicott Athletics Meeting

On Tuesday afternoon, a group of enthusiastic athletes from Years 4 to 7 represented the school at the Caldicott Athletics Meeting. The event featured a full programme of both track and field competitions, including the 75m, 100m, 150m, 200m, 300m, 600m, 800m, and 1500m races. In the field, pupils competed in the high jump, shot put, triple jump, long jump, and javelin.

All of our boys demonstrated tremendous effort and determination in their chosen events, showcasing excellent skill and sportsmanship throughout the afternoon. It was a fantastic display of athletic ability and team spirit.

The meeting concluded with an exciting series of relay races, beginning with the Year 4 team and finishing with Year 8. Our teams delivered some excellent baton changes and strong performances across the board.

We were delighted to finish 3rd overall—a great achievement against tough competition. Well done to all involved for their hard work, commitment, and outstanding representation of the school.
