U11 C2 Cricket vs Aldwickbury
On Wednesday afternoon, the Colts C2’s played Aldwickbury, who won the toss and elected to bowl first. This choice proved a good one as their bowlers stopped our batsmen getting a good start and they also kept their extras to a minimum while picking up important wickets along the way. Three of our batsmen did get into double figures with Mark Z getting 11, Armaan S getting 16 and Henry W hitting an impressive 17 runs. We finished with a total of 108 for 7.
Our bowling was mixed throughout, and any wide balls and no balls were punished by Aldwickbury – something that we can learn a lot from. Henry W finished with our best bowling figures, but I cannot fault the effort our boys gave in the field, in what was a hot afternoon on Willsfield. Another notable mention goes to Dan S for his work behind the stumps and his remarkable run out.
Unfortunately, we lost by 22 runs but as discussed afterwards, this is just above a run an over, so it highlighted how every ball matters in cricket – no matter what stage of the game we are at. This will go down as one that got away, against a very good opposition but learnings can be taken from it for the rest of the season.
Well done, boys.

13B Cricket vs Aldwickbury

It was a glorious sunny day and the perfect setting for an exciting game of cricket as our U13B team took to the field. After losing the toss, we were put into the field first by the visiting side.
We couldn’t have asked for a better start—Tom M lit up the opening over with a stunning display, claiming three wickets. One batsman was bowled cleanly, and two more were dismissed thanks to sharp stumpings, also from Tom. The pressure continued as Theo H and Angus B each picked up a wicket shortly after, leaving the opposition reeling early on.
Despite the strong start, the away team regrouped well. A flurry of boundaries and some clever running between the wickets allowed them to build a steady partnership. The batsmen held firm through the remainder of their 20 overs, ending with a competitive total of 113.
Our innings got off to a shaky start with a run-out on the very first ball, and a few quick wickets followed, putting us under early pressure. However, Theo H led the fightback with a number of well-timed boundaries, keeping the scoreboard moving. He was joined by Oliver F, and together they built a strong and composed partnership that kept us firmly in the chase. With two overs to go, we needed just 10 runs to win. It all came down to the final ball—1 run needed for victory. Theo H, on 49 runs, was just one short of a well-deserved half-century. He struck the final ball, which rolled back towards the bowler, who managed to complete a stumping to end the match in a dramatic tie.
It was a thrilling match from start to finish, showcasing excellent cricket from both sides. Well done to all involved on a fantastic effort!
