Speech Day 2026

Annual Celebration of Achievements

Our annual Speech Day returned to the Wycombe Swan Theatre this week, bringing together members of our community to celebrate the achievements of pupils in Years 4 to 8 over the past year.

The event opened with a moving vocal performance from Year 7 pupil Chris D, before the spotlight turned to Dance Club, where pupils showcased the talent that has flourished since the club’s introduction earlier this year. The audience was then transported back in time with excerpts from our Year 8 Emil and the Detectives show and Year 4 Jungle Book JR performance, reliving some of the standout moments from this year’s productions. We also enjoyed a lively performance inspired by our Year 6 Aladdin JR, featuring backstage footage shown live on stage before building to a spectacular full-cast musical number.

Following warm applause, Headmaster Nick Baker took to the stage to reflect on another successful year at The Beacon, highlighting some of the many memorable moments from across the school. His address was followed by our Years 4 to 8 highlights video prior to the first awards of the afternoon being presented to pupils in Years 4 and 5.

The celebrations continued with performances from two of this year’s individual award winners. Beacon Bard of the Year, Kit R (Year 6), captivated the audience with his Shakespearean monologue, before Beacon Musician of the Year, Jimmy C (Year 6), performed his winning piano piece.

Attention then turned to Years 6 and 7 as pupils received their prizes. A heartfelt Year 6 leavers’ video followed, celebrating their time at The Beacon and wishing them well as they move on to new schools, while The Beacon Voices choir gave a beautiful rendition of ‘Proud of Your Boy’.

The Year 8 Roll of Honour followed, with our Upper School leavers receiving their prizes and awards before delivering the traditional Head Boys’ Speech. Deputy Head Boys Karanveer D and Emilio T, alongside Head Boy Rocco G, entertained the audience with humorous reflections on their time at The Beacon, sharing memories, friendships and the moments that have shaped their journey through school. Their speech was followed by an emotional farewell video, comparing the boys today with their younger selves.

Speech Day drew to a close with a stirring rendition of the National Anthem, accompanied by our Brass Fanfare.

Thank you to everyone who joined us at the Wycombe Swan to celebrate another fantastic year, and to our pupils, staff, parents and wider community for making it one to remember. As we look ahead to an exciting new chapter and the changes it will bring, we are confident that the warmth and sense of community that define The Beacon will remain at the heart of our school.
