Sports Highlights Week 24 2025

U10A Tournament at Claires Court

On Friday, our U10 A team participated in the football tournament at Claires Court, in which we emerged victorious, winning all of our matches comfortably. We were drawn into a group of four, alongside Gateway, Oratory Prep, and Holy Trinity. We managed to win each of our group matches 3-0, meaning we advanced to the semi-final of the cup competition as group winners.
Any doubts about being knocked out at this stage were removed after Darrshan’s fantastic strike from inside our own half flew into the top right-hand corner. The final score was a commanding 5-0 win over Crown House. The final was no different, as we won 5-0 again, this time against Upton House, thanks to an excellent hat-trick from Xander that secured the trophy.
Everybody in the squad contributed throughout, with all outfield players getting on the scoreboard. Xander led the scoring with 7 goals, both Blake and Kit scored 4, with William and Darrshan also contributing from the back with 2 each. Lucas was also flawless in goal, keeping a perfect record with 5 clean sheets and no goals conceded.
To win a tournament is impressive, but to do so without conceding a goal is almost unheard of. A massive well done to all the boys involved!

U11A vs Dragon School

The U11A team brought their season to a close in style with a convincing 7-1 victory over Dragon in their final match of the term. For some of the boys, it was the last time they would represent the school on the football pitch.
From the outset, the team was in control, demonstrating the progress they have made over their years at the school. The opening goal from Alex S-W came early, setting the tone for what would be an exciting afternoon. Matteo’s free kick from distance was a standout moment, as he struck the ball cleanly and with precision into the roof of the net, leaving the goalkeeper with little chance.
The highlight of the match, however, came from Oliver K in the second half, who produced a moment of magic. He picked up the ball in midfield and, with a combination of close control and quick feet, danced past three defenders as if the ball was glued to him. With a calmness beyond his years, he slotted the ball past the keeper to complete a stunning individual goal.
The team continued to dominate, adding further goals with Lewis J and James M getting on the scoresheet to secure a comfortable 7-1 win. It was a fitting end for this group to their time playing football for The Beacon.
For the boys who are moving on, we wish them the very best of luck with wherever their football takes them. I have no doubt that their talent and dedication to the game will lead them to many more successes. Well done, lads!

U8D2 vs Belmont School

Yesterday was the last football for the Y3 U8D2 team away at Belmont. The boys played 4×10 minute quarters, and with each one, the skills and energy levels improved. The boys made some nice passes, worked hard in defence and made some good saves in goal. Although the scoreline wasn’t in our favour, the game finishing 4-2 to Belmont, the boys should be proud of their effort and be pleased with how much progress they have made this season.
Well done to all involved.
