U10 D3 Football Match
The first match was against Chesham Prep, where the team faced a tough opponent. Despite a strong start, the team was unable to capitalize on their chances, with Chesham taking an early lead. The D3 team fought hard, displaying resilience and creativity in attack. Midway through the second half, they found an equalizer, a well-timed strike from Raffi K to make it 1-1. However, Chesham responded quickly, scoring a second goal to secure a 2-1 victory. Despite the loss, the team demonstrated positive attitude and effort throughout the match.
In the second game, the U10 D3 team bounced back strongly against Gayhurst. This time, the team was more solid defensively, and their passing game looked sharper. Both teams created a handful of chances, but it was Gayhurst who broke the deadlock, taking a 1-0 lead. However, the D3 team’s persistence paid off late in the game, with a well-placed equalizer from Sritan C to level the score at 1-1. Both sides pushed for a winner, but neither could break the deadlock, and the match ended in a deserved draw.

U13C vs Caldicott

As the celestial bodies aligned last week, it brought improved weather and glorious sunshine to Buckinghamshire. Willsfield dried up, leaving the hallowed turf of ‘The Pond Pitch’ ready for the almighty U13C team to grace. Wednesday saw the return of The Beacon vs Caldicott and the boys were pumped and ready to inflict revenge for the 5-0 defeat of earlier in the season.
The start of the game saw us down to 10 men as one boy had forgotten his shinpads, and ex Beacon boy turned Caldicott hero capitalised on this and scored 2 quick early goals as our midfield and defence found their balance and responsibilities. As our left wing returned, we continued in the same fashion, great tackling, unlucky bounces and Caldicott one on one with our goalie, Armaan. The scoreline read 0-5 after 20 minutes of play. We showed glimpses of the football we wanted to play, Klopp-inspired counterattack and fast breaks down the wings using the pace of Lithum, Edward and Eeshan and getting our front two of Kishan and Tom the ball. We put two shots wide and a number blocked on the edge of the area just before half-time.
With such a positive end to the half, nothing needed to be changed to the formation or tactics, just making sure we put the work rate in to get more numbers back to help the formidable line of Patrick, Angus and Oleksii. The boys rallied around each other providing some great feedback and it seemed to have been absorbed by all.
The whistle blew for the second half, now attacking with the hill and The Beacon was off to a flier! Our captain, Lithum, scored quickly with a brilliant, powerful strike which saw the ball whizz past the keeper’s ears. Buoyed by the change in events, the boys pressed on. With an incredible 7 players in the final third, pressing every ball and pass, we came away with another 2 goals. Eeshan and Tom picked up the accolades with some great passing from the middle from Nikolay, Benjy and Kishan. Unfortunately, a mass change from the opposition saw them bring on more physical presence up front and with a few cutting passes they breached the high line twice to punish us. The Beacon did have the last say in the game with another goal from Tom but it was too little too late.
The boys held their heads high after a phenomenal effort in the second half but attacking football was the winner that day. Well done to all of the squad for their efforts and fingers crossed for more sunshine to keep this style of football possible!
