Sports Highlights Week 19 2025

U12As vs Swanbourne House School

The boys started well with some great flowing football down both flanks. The first goal came from some great build up play from Henry B, who played Barney G in behind who slotted it past the Swanbourne keeper to make it 1-0. The floodgates opened and the goals started to flow, with two more before half time from Hunter O and Lawrence H. The boys took a 3-0 lead into half-time.
The second half was much of the same. The boys kept the ball brilliantly in the build play, knocking the ball around in the opposition’s half. This led to some excellent goals from Rocco G (twice), Alistair BH and Karanveer D to extend the lead. Despite the smart attacking play, the real credit must go to the defence of Emilio T and Arthur W, along with the keeper Finn R, who kept the boys in the game throughout the whole 60 minutes. A great way to end the first half of term with a 7-0 win against Swanbourne. Well done, boys!

U13B vs Swanbourne House

The U13B team played an exciting away match on Wednesday against Swanbourne House. The big pitch allowed The Beacon to utilize the width effectively and string together some excellent passes. From the first whistle, our boys took control, dominating possession and putting the home side under sustained pressure. However, despite creating numerous chances, only one found the back of the net, courtesy of Theo H. Against the run of play, the hosts managed to grab an equaliser, meaning the teams went into halftime level at 1-1—a scoreline that didn’t reflect our dominance.
The second half started with a setback, as the home team struck on the counter to take a 2-1 lead. A swift response was needed, and Alex C delivered immediately, scoring straight from the restart after some nice team play to bring us back level at 2-2. Both teams then played some excellent football, but two quick goals for the home side saw us trail 4-2.
Despite the challenge, our team remained composed, stuck to their game plan, and let the ball do the work. Their patience and teamwork paid off in spectacular fashion, as Alex C found his scoring touch and produced an outstanding individual display. In a breathtaking period of play, he netted four more goals, bringing his personal tally to five and turning the game around in style.
The final whistle confirmed a 6-4 victory—an excellent performance full of resilience, skill and determination. A fantastic team effort, and well done to all involved!

U12C vs Swanbourne House

On Wednesday, the U12Cs had their first away trip of the season to Swanbourne House School and the boys did not disappoint. We carried on where we left off from last week and got our second win of the season, with the game finishing 8-1 to The Beacon.

The boys went on the front foot, right from the first whistle and even though it took us a little while to start passing the ball quickly and into space, when we did the opportunities came and we were 3-0 by half-time with goals from Geraint J and 2 for Vega H, whose recent sabbatical from tennis training is definitely benefiting the U12s.

The second half started with Vega completing his hat trick for the second week in a row and Swanbourne, who never gave up and continued to press forward, scoring a very good counter attacking goal of their own.

The team formation had some significant changes from this point on and Henry DH went from right back (where he played very well and was very composed on the ball) to striker and he didn’t disappoint by getting his own hat trick before the end and even shifting Vega to centre back didn’t stop him getting one more goal too.

Well done to the entire squad and our player of the week will go to Henry DH for playing very well in two different positions during the game.

Have a great half-term break, boys.
