An Action-Packed Week of Learning Beyond the Classroom
Year 6 Activities Week has seen Year 6 throw themselves into many exciting things!
The week began with a two-day Enterprise Project, where pupils were tasked with designing and marketing a brand-new smoothie. After some impressive creativity and entrepreneurial thinking, the winning team of Robert F, Emir D, Bryan L and Oliver VH wowed the judges with their polished presentation and took home Amazon vouchers as their prize.
On Wednesday, the focus shifted to giving back to the community. During our community and charity morning, pupils took part in local litter picks before tackling a charity skipathon, collectively completing almost an incredible 50,000 skips!
Thursday brought an energetic and fiercely competitive House Rounders Tournament on Willsfield. Year 6 swapped their cricket instincts for rounders tactics, with varying degrees of success as they raced around the outside of the bases! It was a brilliant afternoon of friendly competition.
The week concluded on a high with Friday’s BMX workshops. Many new skills were learnt and some seriously impressive tricks demonstrated – it was great fun!
Throughout the week, our pupils faced many challenges —personal, social and environmental — and overcame them all with a smile and an impressive can-do attitude that was shared by the entire group. The staff on our activities commented on how wonderful our group had been and what a pleasure it was to spend time in their company, a sentiment shared by their Beacon teachers. Year 6 made us proud!
