Year 8's Final Cooking Event at The Beacon

Our Year 8 pupils put on an incredible pop-up restaurant for Come Dine with Us, showcasing the dishes they perfected for our MasterCook Competition 2026. The menu featured 17 different creations, including canapés, starters, mains, desserts and petit fours.

Preparation began at 1pm, and with guests arriving at 5.30pm, there was a final push to complete every last detail before service. Catering for 38 covers, our aspiring chefs worked in brigades to deliver each course, and thanks to their fantastic teamwork and organisation, the evening ran seamlessly.

Although they ended the night with tired feet, our pupils left with a tremendous sense of achievement. They completed their culinary journey at The Beacon brilliantly, demonstrating not only the impressive skills they have developed throughout the year but also remarkable professionalism and a genuine passion for cooking.

Our Head of Cooking and Nutrition, Kim Rowland, commented,

“I could not be prouder of what Year 8 achieved. At just 13 years old, they demonstrated remarkable talent and maturity. They should all be incredibly proud of themselves. Our guests of Beacon staff and families thoroughly enjoyed the dining experience!”
