The Beacon Remembrance Day 2025

Honouring Those We Lost

On Remembrance Day, our Beacon community gathered to honour the courage and sacrifice of those who served and those we’ve lost to war.

Family members, staff and Beacon boys came together in our Sports Hall for a moving service that featured beautiful singing from our Beacon Voices, heartfelt poems from Year 8 and tributes to family members who have served.

A minute’s silence was held in the Quad following a touching trumpet performance, after which our Senior Deputy Head, Simon Detre, led the community in prayer. The Quad itself was decorated with handcrafted poppies created by our boys in Design and Technology lessons. They spent weeks carefully preparing them ahead of the event.

Our Art Department also contributed to the commemorations by collaborating with Amersham Town Council to drape a stunning veil of over 3,000 poppies – that were handmade by Beacon boys and staff – over Amersham Market Hall.

After the service, guests gathered in the Spinney Theatre for refreshments, where war poems written by our Upper School boys were on display.

We thank all those that attended our Remembrance Day service and donated towards our Fundraiser for The Royal British Legion. If you wish to donate towards this fantastic charity, please click the link below.
