Year 3 Religious Studies Outing
After spending this term learning all about Christianity, our Year 3 boys set off for an educational visit to St Leonard’s Church in Chesham Bois to consolidate their learning.
The boys were fascinated to discover that the original chapel dates all the way back to the 13th century – far older than the 100-year estimate many of them predicted! They listened eagerly to a talk about the church’s history and asked thoughtful questions to deepen their understanding whilst exploring the building up close.
During the visit, our pupils were challenged to identify key features of the church, including the pulpit, lectern and altar. They then created their own bird’s-eye view drawings of the church interior and its important objects. One of the highlights of the morning was the impressive collection of stained-glass windows, each telling its own unique story and capturing the boys’ imaginations.
It was a thoroughly enjoyable morning, and the boys returned to school with plenty of new knowledge to enrich their classroom learning.
