Early Years Visit Mead Open Farm

Both Nursery and Reception set off on their own exciting adventures to Mead Open Farm, where they enjoyed a wonderful day of hands-on learning and meeting a variety of friendly animals.

The children were delighted to stroke the soft bunnies and took great care while grooming a gentle pony named Asia. Many were brave enough to feed the goats, giggling as the animals’ tongues tickled their hands.

The goats certainly had insatiable appetites – they even witnessed one of them grabbing a whole bag of feed out of a lady’s hand before taking it into the middle of its pen to gobble it up, bag included!

During the tractor ride, our Little Beacons used their excellent observational skills to spot cows grazing in the fields and were astonished by the size of the pigs. For many, the highlight of the day was the exciting coach journey, with lunch coming a very close second.

We were so proud to receive such positive feedback about how well both groups behaved throughout the trip. It was a pleasure to hear the children enthusiastically recount their favourite moments and memorable encounters when they returned to school.
