Year 5 Ufton Court Trip

Experiencing Tudor Times

On Tuesday 11th March, Year 5 had an educational trip to Ufton Court, a historic Tudor manor not far from Reading.

The boys were fully immersed in a number of traditional Tudor activities, including spinning wool, wattling, starting a fire, milking cows and grinding wheat. In addition to this, the boys even got up close to a range of animals that live on the beautiful farmland surrounding the manor, including pigs, chickens and goats! Another highlight had to be the Tudor criminal court, where willing volunteers were sentenced to a number of gruesome Tudor punishments for crimes they had committed!

A huge thank you to all the stellar effort from the parents and boys who even put together an authentic Tudor lunch, including hunks of bread, drumsticks and pork pies, all wrapped in brown paper, cloth or baskets.  It was a fantastic way to consolidate all of the learning the boys have done in History – everyone had lots of fun jumping back to Tudor times.
