Year 6 Trip To Newquay 2025

Last week, 68 excited boys embarked on an unforgettable residential trip to Newquay, Cornwall. This much-anticipated adventure provided the perfect mix of challenge, fun and teamwork. From start to finish, the week was packed with engaging activities, great food and lasting memories.

Our boys’ days in Newquay were filled with an array of outdoor pursuits that challenged them both physically and mentally. The Aqua Park was a huge hit, for both the boys and the staff brave enough to ‘take them on’ with its inflatable obstacle courses that gave our boys a good workout to start the trip.

One of the standout activities was coasteering – scrambling across rocks, leaping into the sea, and exploring caves proved to be a thrilling and confidence-boosting experience for many. It was wonderful to see so many boys step out of their comfort zones and encourage each other throughout the session. Kayaking, paddle boarding and raft building added further variety to their time on the water. These sessions offered an opportunity to learn new skills, develop resilience and most importantly, work as a team. Many of the boys discovered a natural flair for these sports and the instructors frequently commented on their determination and excellent attitude.

Midway through the week, the group spent a full day at Camel Creek Adventure Park. This break from the water-based activities allowed the boys to enjoy various attractions, but everyone still managed to get wet!

No trip to Newquay would be complete without surfing, the boys threw themselves into this new challenge with real enthusiasm! For many, it was their first time catching a wave — with some quickly mastering the art of standing up and riding into shore. Even those who spent more time falling in than standing up did so with huge smiles on their faces. For the final evening, our boys took a walk-through Newquay and went to the cinema to see the latest Disney Pixar movie ‘Elio’, which proved to a perfect way to relax before the long trip home on Friday morning.

Throughout the trip, the boys represented The Beacon with pride and maturity, showing kindness, respect and cooperation at every stage. Everyone returned tired but happy, having created shared memories that will last a lifetime. It was a week of challenge, adventure and growth — a true Beacon experience.
