Headmaster for the Day

Headmaster Nico Reigns The Beacon

This term, Nico G (Year 3) was given the great honour of becoming our Headmaster for the Day!

Before his special day, Nico got straight to work, negotiating a delicious lunch menu with Chef Dino and making the executive decision that it would be a non-uniform day for all pupils – a popular choice across the school!

The day began with a briefing from our Headmaster, Nick Baker, before Nico took charge and presented certificates during the morning Assembly. Following Assembly, he headed to the Dining Hall kitchen to meet Chef Dino and enjoy a behind-the-scenes tour of where all the culinary magic happens. Nico learnt how our delicious lunches are prepared each day and even had the opportunity to create his own dessert. He then helped make cheese on toast, which he proudly delivered to the Estates Team in their office.

Whilst enjoying the toast together, Nico and the Estates Team caught up on the latest football results – a particular highlight of the morning for Nico! He was then whisked away by the IT Team for an interactive workshop, where he created and displayed his own personalised message on the TV screens throughout the school.

Later, the Estates Team reunited with our temporary Headmaster to provide an exclusive tour of the school, which even included a trip to the roof for a birds eye view of the quad. Nico invited his older brother, Rocco (Year 8 and Head Boy), to join him for this exciting experience.

At lunchtime, Nico enjoyed another Headmaster privilege: skipping the queue with five friends and dining at a reserved table in the Dining Hall. The group tucked into Nico’s chosen menu of sausages and mash, followed by a selection of tasty desserts.

The afternoon continued with a workshop alongside the Marketing Team, who showed Nico how the weekly newsletter is created. When asked about his favourite part of the day, Nico said:

“My favourite part of the day was chilling with Estates; Daniel, Johnny and Lee whilst watching the football highlights!”

Nico also enjoyed a sneak peek of rehearsals for the Year 6 production of Aladdin, capturing behind-the-scenes footage with the Marketing Team.

To round off a fantastic day, Nico dismissed our Pre-Prep pupils, greeting each one with a firm handshake as they headed home.

Tomorrow, our Headmaster Nick Baker will return to his leadership role. However, we suspect many pupils will miss Nico’s reign – particularly his excellent decisions regarding non-uniform plus sausages and mash!
