Children's Mental Health Awareness Week and Safer Internet Day
During the week commencing Monday 9th February, we offered a wide range of activities to support and mark Children’s Mental Health Week, alongside Safer Internet Day on Tuesday 10th February.
The week began with Year 6 taking part in mindset and motivation workshops, led by Kwame Badu from KIP Education. Pupils enjoyed an insightful session exploring fixed and growth mindsets, learning how to embrace new challenges and view mistakes as an essential part of the learning process.
On Tuesday, pupils in Years 3 to 8 stepped off timetable to take part in a variety of activities focused on wellbeing and coping strategies. These included:
-
Nature walks
-
Online safety workshops
-
Team-building activities
-
Outdoor learning sessions
-
Arts and crafts lessons
-
Storytelling sessions
-
Yoga and mindfulness activities
On Wednesday, Year 4 and Year 5 enjoyed mental health and wellbeing workshops in the Old Barn. Through fun and interactive activities, pupils learnt about emotional regulation and effective coping mechanisms.
The week concluded on Thursday with a non-uniform day, where our community kindly donated a small amount to support our fundraising efforts for the mental health charity Mind. Year 7 took part in anxiety and stress workshops hosted by Bucks Mind, alongside an assembly for those in Years 3 to 8.
So far, we are proud to have raised an incredible £1,000+ for our chosen charity, which underpins all vital mental health services. This support makes an incredible difference, ensuring the charity can support our community’s mental health needs now and in the future.
The week of activities encouraged our pupils to reflect on their wellbeing and develop valuable skills to support their mental health.
Sandy Drury, our Wellbeing Coach and Counsellor, commented:
“It was a pleasure to see all of our pupils engaging so positively in the activities and learning new ways to manage their wellbeing and mental health.”
