Specialist clubs run by Beacon staff
This summer, we were delighted to once again offer a programme of specialist camps for boys and girls aged 3-13 from schools across the local area. Led by our experienced Beacon staff, each Summer Clubs combined learning new skills with plenty of fun, creating an enjoyable and engaging environment for all.
With building work taking place ahead of our first year as a co-educational school, this year’s programme was a little more streamlined than in previous years. However, there were still a good range of clubs available for children to enjoy.
📈We were thrilled to introduce our new Leap Into Learning Club, which was split into three groups for Years 3, 4 and 5. The sessions were designed to recap key learning from the previous year while helping pupils get a head start on upcoming Maths and English topics.
🎼We were also pleased to introduce our new Music Theory Camp, led by one of our Peripatetic Music Teachers. Across the five-day camp, pupils preparing for their ABRSM Grade 5 Theory Digital Examination were supported through a combination of exam practice, marking and feedback, ear training and rhythm activities. The sessions also provided clear explanations of key theory concepts and step-by-step guidance in a small-group setting, helping pupils to build both their knowledge and confidence ahead of their examination.
⚽Our regular Multi-Sports Club was once again a popular choice, with pupils in Years 2-8 taking part in a wide range of physical activities throughout the week. From swimming and wide games to football and competitions, there was something for everyone, with dodgeball proving to be a particular favourite.
🎭Drama also made a welcome return, with our Head of Drama leading pupils through a varied programme of filmmaking, voice and movement, acting, games and creative exercises. The sessions gave participants the opportunity to develop their performance skills while exploring different ways of bringing characters and stories to life.
🎨Art Club provided plenty of opportunities for creativity, with pupils producing an array of imaginative pieces to take home. From clay fish and creative mask-making to acrylic underwater paintings, participants explored a variety of techniques while developing their artistic skills throughout the week.
🪚Our Design & Technology Club encouraged pupils to explore innovation and practical skills through a range of engaging projects. Creations included animal bookends, colourful flower pots, string-art key hooks and wooden toy swords, giving pupils the opportunity to design, make and develop their practical skills along the way.
🧁Finally, our Grubb Club and Mini-Makers Club was once again fully booked, with our youngest participants (Nursery to Year 3) enjoying a mix of arts and crafts, baking and games throughout the week.
