Summer Developments 2026

Over the summer holidays, The Beacon was a hive of activity with plenty of work taking place across the school. The main focus has been to prepare the school for its exciting transition to a co-educational setting, welcoming girls to our pupil community from September 2026 and beyond.

Sports Hall

One of the major developments over the summer was the refurbishment of the Sports Hall. The walls, doors and floor have been refreshed, with our vibrant Beacon blue bringing a new energy to the space. The updated hall will continue to provide an excellent environment for both sport and school events throughout the year, including a versatile new court with line markings for multi-sports, including the introduction of netball.

Field House

Field House has also received a complete refresh, with the building redecorated throughout. New carpets and lighting have helped to create a bright and welcoming building for Modern Foreign Languages.

English Department

The English classrooms and corridor have been redecorated, whilst the carpets have also been professionally cleaned, giving the area a fresh new look ready for the start of term.

AstroTurf Pitch

A new dividing net has been installed on the AstroTurf, allowing the space to be used more effectively for different activities and sporting sessions.

Toilets

All pupil and staff toilets have been completely refurbished, creating modern facilities for everyone and cubicles suitable for boys and girls.

Updated Signage

As part of the school’s ongoing development and refreshed identity, signage across The Beacon has been updated to reflect our new Beacon branding. This creates a more consistent look across the school whilst helping pupils, families and visitors navigate the site. Our fleet of school buses have also been updated with branding and imagery of boys and girls.

Winterbourn

The carpets throughout our Winterbourn building have been professionally cleaned, helping to keep the building refreshed and ready for our Pre-Prep pupils’ return.

New Wi-Fi Network

We now have an entirely new wireless network, with new hardware installed across all areas of the school. The network is Wi-Fi 7 compliant and operates across more frequencies, allowing more devices to connect with improved coverage and greater speeds for all in our community.

Connected Willsfield Pavilion and Pathway

Willsfield Pavilion has now been connected to the main school site using specialist IT hardware, with the connection licensed through Ofcom. The new connection has proven stable, even during rain and through tree foliage.

A dedicated AstroTurf pathway has been established between the gate and the pavilion to ensure better access for children, parents and visitors.

It has been a delight to welcome back our Beacon Community of existing pupils and a new cohort of boys and girls!
