Year 4 Trip to Woodrow High House 2026

Four Seasons in Two Days: A Woodrow Adventure

The good old British weather could have been included as one of the challenge activities in this year’s residential trip to Woodrow High House in Amersham!

Year 4 set off in the sunshine on Tuesday 2nd June and before the day was out had experienced four seasons’ worth of conditions with thunder, lightning, torrential rain and hail. Our pupils were certainly kept on their toes, yet spirits were high as they started off with an orientation-style scavenger hunt before lunch. Archery, high ropes and other team-building activities were enjoyed throughout the afternoon.

A warming supper and a huge campfire in the gorgeous evening sun – complete with hearty birthday celebrations for two of our pupils – rounded off the day. After an early start and a warm-up game or two of football, morning activities got underway outside before the rain forced everyone inside to continue pursuits. The ingenuity of the Woodrow activity leaders was impressive as rooms were transformed to host a variety of indoor activities instead. A nightline was set up and took over part of the ground floor of the building, the dining room became an area for learning pioneering skills, whilst a range of team-building activities took place in the cellar.

After enjoying some tasty chicken quesadillas for lunch, the children were ready for their 2pm pick-up, full of stories to share with their families following an enjoyable trip.
