The Beacon Art Exhibition 2026

Creativity Comes to Life at Our Whole-School Art Exhibition

The whole-school Art Exhibition was a wonderful celebration of creativity, imagination and artistic achievement across every year group. Our entire community enjoyed an inspiring display of artwork showcasing a wide range of techniques, materials and artistic influences.

Beneath the waves, Little Beacons explored the theme Under the Sea, creating a colourful collection of sea creatures including turtles, seahorses, starfish and sharks using a variety of materials and textures. Our Reception pupils based their artwork on traditional tales, using painting, collage, cutting and drawing to create detailed responses inspired by favourite stories such as The Gingerbread Man.

Inspired by Vincent van Gogh’s Starry Night, Year 1 captured the movement and magic of the famous painting through swirling patterns, rich blues and shimmering gold details to depict the movement and magic of the famous painting. Across Year 2, the theme Our Blue Planet prompted vibrant ocean-inspired artwork using watercolour washes, layered textures and mixed-media techniques to celebrate the beauty and diversity of marine life.

Year 3 pupils immersed themselves in the world of The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse, creating thoughtful artwork exploring emotions, individuality and resilience. Using ink, watercolour and even damaged card, the boys transformed imperfections into imaginative and expressive pieces.

Colour and symbolism came together in Year 4’s exploration of the Mexican festival Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead). Inspired by the monarch butterfly, the boys created a striking collaborative installation using willow, tissue paper, paint, gems and clay to celebrate remembrance, creativity and cultural understanding.

Inspired by the bold imagery of Keith Haring, Year 5 worked collaboratively on a large-scale painting filled with energy, movement and interconnected storytelling.

Year 6 took inspiration from the anonymous street artist Banksy to create vibrant spray-painted canvases using stencils, layered imagery and graffiti-style lettering. Their bold and expressive artworks demonstrated confidence, spontaneity and creativity.

Year 7 explored lino printing, designing and carving their own printing blocks inspired by German Expressionist woodcuts. Through experimentation with colour and texture, they produced striking and dynamic printed images.

Exploring portraiture and identity, Year 8 presented two ambitious and highly personal projects. Expressive ink portraits revealed strong observational drawing skills and confident experimentation with tone and texture, while a photographic transfer installation examined collective identity through layered imagery and personal symbolism.

The exhibition also featured impressive work from Middle School Art Club, who collaborated on two life-size Sellotape sculptures inspired by Anthony Gormley, alongside Scholarship Club pupils, who produced expressive portraits in oil paint using layered brushwork and observational techniques.

Throughout the school day, each year group had the opportunity to visit the exhibition and view both their own work and that of their peers. After school, boys proudly shared their artwork with parents and families, making the event a tremendous success. Thank you to all the parents, Governors and staff who attended and supported this wonderful celebration of art across the school.
