U9 C2 vs Dragon School

On Tuesday afternoon, the U9C2 football team displayed excellent teamwork, determination and resilience to secure a 3-1 victory over Dragon School in an end-to-end game of football.
In the first half, both teams showed great attacking intent, but it was our boys who struck first, taking the lead after a brilliant team move involving Peter S and a cross from Eddie McC was finished off with Charlie M-S’s volley into the bottom corner. However, the opposition responded brilliantly, with a period of sustained pressure on our goal resulting in a shot from distance that sent the game into the break at 1-1.
Now playing down the hill, the second half started well. With their defenders caught high up the pitch, a passage of play in the midfield saw the ball break to Oscar B, who was set through on goal. With the ball carrying some pace down the hill, an air shot (we’ll call it a moment of genius) wrong footed the keeper, as it rolled between his legs and into the back of the net, something that Pelé could only dream of as he tried to manage the same feat against Uruguay at the 1970 World Cup.
The defence stood firm in the second half, keeping Dragon at bay, with a special mention to Eddie McC’s double save that kept the score at 2-1. A well-deserved 3-1 victory was finished off by Peter S who calmly finished when the ball broke to him inside the penalty area.
Throughout the game, we worked well as a team, with all the boys happy to contribute defensively and going forward, and hope that continues during the rest of this term. Well done, lads!
