Lowndes Park Cross Country
Last Saturday, a number of our athletes in Years 3,4,5 and 6 took to the slopes of Lowndes Park in Chesham for the third cross-country event of the season.
In Year 3, we had four finishers in the top 10 (Sebi W – 2nd, Teddy S-S – 3rd, Quinn R – 7th, Maxim M – 10th).
In Year 4, we had four finishers in the top 6 (Kit R – 1st, Evan A – 4th, Aleem-HF- 5th, Sebastian S – 6th).
In Year 5, we had three finishers in the top 8 (Sam W – 2nd, James M – 5th, Oliver F – 8th).
In Year 6, we had four finishers in the top 10 (George O – 1st, Barney G – 4th, Benny Gn – 9th, Harry As – 10th).
The effort that all the boys put in was very impressive, and performed well enough to take home the team gold medals for 1st place across the board in all year groups. All other runners finished in the top 35 of their race in fields of over 60 boys, which shows the strength in depth we are fortunate to have in our cross-country teams at The Beacon. Well done, everyone!

U8As v Davenies (Won 4-0)
The boys started the game off quickly and kept control of the ball with the majority of the possession, moving the ball nicely around the pitch. This resulted in two early goals in the first half, scored by Teddy S-S and Quin R. The tempo of the game slowed down and it was down to the defence from Maxim M and some great saves by Austin B that the boys went into half time 2-0 up.
Similar to the first half the boys came out quickly in the second. Both Macsen T and Seb W were instrumental in the build up play for the next two goals, which were converted by the same goal scorers as in the first half. Four almost became five, with Wilf W hitting the bar from long range. The game finished 4-0!

U10D2s v Belmont (Drew 3-3)
On a sunny Friday afternoon away at Belmont School, the U10 D3s battled out an excellent 3-3 draw. The Beacon took the lead with a goal by Niam P, who dribbled his way last two defenders to calmly slot the ball past the goalkeeper. Belmont fought back to 3-1. The game looked like it could be over, but with two brilliant finishes by Rajan S, the boys got a deserved draw from an excellent end to end match.

3rd XI vs Davenies (Won 5-1)
The boys got off to a great start, with early pressure put on Davenies from a ferocious high pass from the midfielders Ollie F and Oscar H, leading to a goal mouth scramble in which Benji G got the final touch to claim the first goal.
Further goals came from Adrian T, who scored twice and Tom Mc, both of whom produced some individual excellence to weave through the opposition defense and slot the ball past the keeper, finding the bottom corners each time. The Beacon didn’t allow the game to get away from them, with some excellent composed defending from Jahnu M and Ben F.
The game was 4-1, after a late Davenies goal. This was until the moment of the match where the ball sat up perfectly for Rufus T who struck it with all his might from 25 yards out. The ball curled in the top corner to wrap up the game 5-1. Excellent game boys, well done!

County Cross Country Championships (Stowe School)
The boys performed brilliantly in winning the Country Cross Country Team Championships. In the year 5 and 6 boys’ race, George O finished 3rd place, Barney G was 4th place and Benny G was 15th.
Sam W was the first in the Year 5 race, James M was 4th, Ollie F was 6th and William L-S finished 10th place.
In the Year 7 race, Finlay F finished 5th and Eeshan K finished 22nd out of a field of nearly 100 runners.
In the junior boys’ race, which comprised runners from both Years 8 and 9, Logan G finished in 5th place overall but he was the first Year 8 runner home. This was a tremendous achievement.
