The Beacon Carol Service

13 December 2023

As the Christmas break approaches, our Beacon Community came together at Kings Church in Amersham for our annual Carol Service. The afternoon began with the Lower School Service followed by a joint Middle School and Upper School Service.

Both Carol Services kicked off with the classic carol, ‘Once in Royal David’s City’; the first verse was sung beautifully by a soloist from each service. Then the congregation stood up to sing the final verses with all boys.

Additional carols were split between our choirs singing; the Lower School, Middle School and Upper School Beacon Voices, as well as different Year Groups and the whole congregation joining in unison to sing two other popular carols. There were some powerful readings read with confidence by a selection of boys and Mr Baker finished the services with his closing words and Christmas wishes.

We were delighted to welcome two former Beacon boys who were Music scholars to sing ‘Comfort and Joy’ with Mr Nicholls, who also played the guitar.

Kings Church was lit beautifully with Christmas lights, creating a warm and welcoming festive atmosphere for our Beacon Community. The carol services were truly memorable and a great celebration to end the Autumn Term, highlighting the talent and unity of the school.

Thank you to all the staff members involved, without their hard work wonderful events like this wouldn’t happen.

We wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
