The Redheart Theatre Company Performance

18 January 2023

Our Year 7 boys have been learning all about ‘Gothic Tales’ during their English lessons. To continue their learning they were delighted to welcome The Redheart Theatre Company into school. As the boys eagerly gathered into The Spinney Theatre, an actor began to perform dramatisations of two short stories, based on ‘The Red Room’ by H G Wells and ‘The Tell Tale Heart’ by Edgar Allen Poe, which were both extremely well-performed. The actor was very talented as he acted out many characters, all by himself and managed the sounds and stage lighting as well.

Some of the boys’ favourite adaptation was ‘The Red Room’ as this was full of twists and turns and it was something they had not read or heard before. The play was about a haunted room in a castle where a man who didn’t believe in ghosts came to stay the night. He became overwhelmed by all the happenings and eventually was found on the floor (still alive….). However, none of it was real. It was only his fear and imagination.

It was a very entertaining and impressive event and the whole of Year 7 enjoyed it and learnt a lot.
