We are thrilled to announce the launch of The Beacon ‘Future Sparks’ Programme for our Middle School boys here at The Beacon.

In Years 5 & 6, boys continue to grow in independence and responsibility at the school and it is in these vital years that we focus on their personal development.

The initiative is designed to give boys the tools to develop their interpersonal skills as well as encouraging growth of communication and collaboration, which will enable the boys to shine brightly beyond their Beacon journey.

Lead by our Head of Middle School, Mr Steve Miles, the boys will be tasked with completing a set of tasks throughout the term. The tasks range from learning how to use a Rubik’s cube to participating in a volunteering event in the local area.

The tasks have been split into seven #SparkingExcellence categories of which highlight a different type of responsibility that our boys are encouraged to learn at The Beacon. The aim is to inspire our boys to think about the wider community and take advantage of all the opportunities available to them, encouraging them to shine brightly and spark excellence throughout their journey at The Beacon and beyond.

The categories are Independent Learning, Confidence, Physical, Creative, Social Responsibility, Leadership and Kindness. Our boys are required to complete tasks successfully within each category to receive a ‘Future Sparks’ Diploma. To pass the Future Sparks programme, the boys are required to successfully complete a minimum of 28 tasks. A Pass, Merit or Distinction will then be awarded subject to the number of successfully completed tasks each boy achieves.

Mr Miles said “I am very much looking forward to launching this programme with our Middle School boys. I am confident that this initiative will inspire the boys as well as encouraging them to shine brightly within their community. There is a range of different activities outlined for the boys to get stuck into and I’m excited to see their progress throughout the term”
