Year 8 Newquay Trip

1 July 2022

Our Year 8 boys had a wonderful time this week on their Newquay residential trip! They got stuck into various activities, such as Cliff Jumping, Bodyboarding and Paddle Boarding.

On departure from The Beacon, they enjoyed a coach journey to the sunny seaside town, extremely excited to begin a fun-filled week of activities. They headed down to the beach on arrival and began their first activity of bodyboarding. The boys were shown different techniques and the best way to keep your balance.

After a good night sleep, they were eagerly anticipating their first surfing lesson of the week. Wetsuits and surfboards at the ready, our boys were keen to get into the water and ‘ride those waves’. On receiving their second surfing lesson later in the week, it was evident our boys had mastered the basic skills as they demonstrating greater confidence on the waves.

Each day on the trip was packed with a tight schedule of activities, including Kayaking, Coasteering and Raft Building, which enabled our boys to embrace the coastal outdoors and develop new skills. They also enjoyed games on the beach in the evening and took part in a general knowledge quiz in teams with their peers!

As their journey at The Beacon comes to an end, this was a great way for our Year 8 boys to spend some valuable time away with their friends enjoying a fabulous and memorable time to reminisce in years to come.
