Exploring all that The Beacon has to offer
On Saturday 26th September, we opened our gates for our Open Morning, welcoming over 80 prospective families to The Beacon to explore the school, meet our pupils and staff, and discover more about life in our community as well as our transition to co-education.
The morning began in The Spinney with an impressive rendition of the iconic Matilda song ‘When I Grow Up’, performed by our Dance Club alongside members of our Matilda Jr. cast. The performance offered families a sneak peek at what promises to be an exciting production when Matilda Jr. takes to the stage in the Summer Term 2027!
Headmaster Nick Baker then delivered an informative talk, before members of our Pupil Leadership Team each delivered a short speech about their experiences at the school and what being a Beacon pupil means to them.
Following the talks, our Upper School pupils took families on individual tours around the school, offering a glimpse into everyday life at The Beacon. Classrooms were bustling with activity, with pupils and staff showcasing the wide range of opportunities on offer. From gymnastics drills taking place in our newly renovated Sports Hall to delicious tasters being prepared and served in our Cooking and Nutrition room, there was plenty for visitors to see and experience throughout the event. Staff were available in dedicated areas to provide visitors with a wealth of information, covering trips, themed days, wrap-around care, pastoral care, food served as well as the broad curriculum opportunities available.
Our Early Years setting, Oakway, was a particular highlight hosting a Messy Play session for girls and boys 2-6 years during the Open Morning. There were various activity stations for children to explore during their visit.
A huge thank you to everyone who joined us for our annual September Open Morning. It was wonderful to welcome so many families to The Beacon.
