Transported to Ancient Egypt
Our Year 3 boys stepped back in time to the fascinating world of Ancient Egypt!
After kicking off the day with a hieroglyphics activity, the boys marched to the Quad to begin their truly impressive costume parade. The effort put into making their traditional Egyptian costumes wowed our Beacon Community, with mummies and pharaohs proudly parading around the school.
During the morning, our boys were thrilled to watch an interactive, exciting show performed by The Freshwater Theatre Company. In the performance, they enjoyed an immersive experience of Ancient Egypt where, upon entering a tomb (in The Spinney Theatre), they met a number of characters including Tutankhamun and the God Anubis. They were able to demonstrate their impressive understanding of this incredibly successful civilization to help break a curse. Together with their tour guide, they explored topics such as the importance of The Nile, the afterlife and the Egyptian gods.
As the day continued, our time travellers participated in a variety of traditional games and activities based around the era. They explored different roles in Egyptian society, their social hierarchy and language used at the time.
Altogether, the day was a fantastic way for our boys to explore the subject outside of a classroom environment in a fun and engaging way.
