Ufton Court Trip 2026

Transporting To Tudor Times

Tuesday brought glorious sunshine for our Year 5’s much-anticipated visit to Ufton Court, a renowned educational charity and residential outdoor learning centre set within a striking Grade I listed Tudor manor house in Berkshire.

Pupils were transported back to the sixteenth century through a range of hands-on activities. From exploring new worlds as “Plundering Pioneers” to defending Good Queen Bess in Tudor Military Manoeuvres, the day was packed with adventure. A lively – and decidedly gruesome – Tudor trial proved a particular highlight.

The verdict is… it’s brilliant!” declared Phoenix F, who took on the role of Judge Fox.

James D, another of our enthusiastic pupils, also relished the action, saying, “I particularly liked blocking and hitting my enemies during military training. I really enjoyed Ufton Court.”

Others praised both the experience and the conditions. “The weather was brilliant and so was the experience,” said Robert P, while Kian highlighted the “incredible activities and lovely staff,” recommending the visit to others.

Not all aspects went unquestioned, however. Maxim M humorously reflected on Tudor diets, wondering why it was necessary to eat some of their “animal discoveries” – including mascots Samuel Seagull, Chad the Turtle and Jeremy the Dolphin.

After an exciting day, pupils headed home to the fitting soundtrack of I’ve Had the Time of My Life, rounding off another memorable trip back to The Beacon.
