The Beacon Christmas Fair

Another Spectacular BPS Event

On Saturday, The Beacon as we know it transformed into a tinsel laden, sparkly setting for our Beacon Parents’ Society Christmas Fair! Thanks to the hard work from our wonderful parent elves – we had so many fantastic activities and stalls.

The Grotto was pure magic, with Santa Claus delivering magical story times as well as gifts to very happy children. The cake stall was a hit too, with spectacular creations baked by our generous community. Many parents left the bottle tombola laden and our younger attendees left the sweet tombola grinning with hands full of treats.

The Christmas Café returned with even more success! After countless break-times spent whipping up treats by Mrs Rowland and her handy Beacon boy helpers, they delighted the school community with a display of baked goods and seasonal snacks. Their hard work paid off, drawing crowds eager for a taste of Christmas spirit.

Despite the splattering of rain, our gate team were in control and tokens were flying off the shelves. The hampers looked spectacular and there were steady sales throughout the event.

The new and improved games selection was the heart of the fair in the Spinney Theatre and our Year 5 boys did a fantastic job running them. The disco was a slick operation and whilst the children bopped, parents had a moment to enjoy some silence! New attractions – including laser tag, human table football and a snow blizzard simulator – kept the Sports Hall buzzing with excitement.

This year also saw the debut of the House Stalls, a real highlight of the event. Year 8 and our Heads of Houses showcased creativity and teamwork as they devised and delivered their own fundraising ideas for charity. From Cromer’s “match the item” challenge to Portland’s golf putt competition, each stall brought something unique. Trinity’s teddy was successfully named by the Ritchie family, while Eddystone clinched victory with a smashing performance in the crockery smash, raising the highest amount.

Our Head Boys shone as they hosted the table tennis robot, which was showcasing plenty of Beacon competitive spirit – the top prize went to former Beacon boy Cameron.

Mr Baker and his marketing fairies captured the spirit of the day with ‘elf-ies’ of the boys!

The newly relocated Market Place in the Old Barn was filled with spectacular stalls – antler bottle openers, homemade fudge, 3D toys to fine silverware. It was the perfect place to find a special gift.

What a brilliant way to kick off the festive season with our Beacon Community. Over eight thousand pounds was raised, with the BPS pledging support to the House Stalls and donating two thousand pounds to the wonderful ALMT charity. Thank you to all those that volunteered their help to making the wonderful event another successful one.

Merry Christmas!
