U8A Rugby vs Chesham Prep School
The U8A team played another thrilling local derby, this time against Chesham Prep School. From the very first whistle, our boys set the tempo, scoring early tries and putting the opposition under sustained defensive pressure.
It was fantastic to see training – groundwork translate so well into the game. The team held a strong defensive line, moved the ball quickly after each touch and showed excellent awareness by spreading the ball early into space.
Every player contributed to a superb team performance, resulting in an impressive 11–5 victory. A great match, full of energy, teamwork and exciting rugby.
Well done to all involved.

U11As vs Millfield Prep School
Huge congratulations to the U11A football team that represented the Beacon on Sunday 5th October at Millfield Prep School in the qualifying round of the IAPS national competition.
I am delighted to share the news that The Beacon came runners up in the tournament and, in doing so, qualified for the national stage of the competition. In what were very tricky playing conditions, I was particularly impressed with the work ethic and comradery that the team displayed. Each and every person played their part, and knock-out wins against Millfield Prep and Gayhurst were particular highlights.
Well done to all boys: Oliver C, Darrshan K, Evan A, William T, Harley G, Kit R, Emir D, Sebastian S & Blake B.

Colts U11s vs Chesham Prep
On Wednesday, the Colts A took a short trip to Chesham Prep for our latest match of the season. In a closely contested match, we came away with the win – 5 tries to 4, thanks to tries from Blake B, Oliver C, Xander T-O and 2 from Lucas F. Special mention to Sammy M, who made his debut for the A’s this week and did not disappoint.
Our start was a little slow, but we grew into the game and in a pivotal moment, just before half-time, the boys were defending on their own tryline and turned defence into attack by constantly closing down the space offered to Chesham Prep and ended up turning over the ball in the opposite 22 and finished with Lucas scoring his second try. This made the score 3-3 at half time, when it could have easily been 4-2 to Chesham.
We scored early in the second half but let Chesham back in for another but just before the end, Xander made one of his typical ‘dancing feet’ runs and scored the vital try, which separated the sides. The Colts are improving every week and have hopefully seen the benefits of working hard in defence and getting off the line quickly, something that does require a high level of fitness too.
An area to work on is our distribution and getting the ball into space quicker – too often we are looking for contact when other players are in a better position to either attack or pass to another player in space.
Well done for grinding out the win this week boys and thank you to the parents for their continued support on the sidelines.

Division Ten Schools Swimming League
Our Beacon swim squad in Years 4, 5 and 6 competed in the first gala of the Division Ten Schools Swimming League this week at Habs Boys School. It was a fantastic evening of racing, with all swimmers showing great team spirit and determination throughout and a great turnout of spectating parents to support.
The Year 6 squad looked composed and well-drilled, demonstrating their experience and technique in both individual and relay events. The Year 5 swimmers produced strong and competitive performances, particularly impressing in the relays with their speed and teamwork. For the Year 4 team, it was their first ever gala, and after some initial nerves, they quickly settled in and put on a superb display of effort and enthusiasm in the pool.
A great start to the season for all involved — well done, The Beacon!
