Rotary Club Technology Tournament 2026

Engineering Excellence & Enriching STEM Learning

Three teams of our talented pupils from Years 6–8 proudly represented The Beacon at the recent Rotary Club Technology Tournament – and what an incredible experience it was! These annual tournaments aim to provide an enjoyable and challenging way for young people to enrich their STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) learning.

The challenge? To solve an interactive technology-based task, which was to design and build a pipeline vehicle capable of travelling through a pipe and clearing debris along the way. Working independently in their teams, pupils applied a wide range of STEM skills including engineering design, problem-solving, creativity and teamwork.

From brainstorming and sketching ideas to testing and refining their prototypes, the teams showed outstanding perseverance and innovation. There were plenty of trial runs, adjustments, as they worked to perfect their vehicles.

Our Head of Design and Technology, Danielle Reeve, commented,

“We are so proud of the way our competitors embraced the challenge and represented our school with enthusiasm and determination. Well done to all involved future engineers in the making!”
