Lead Like Elfie

Embodying Courage

Last year, Elfie joined us at The Beacon with little acts of Kindness in the lead up to Christmas. This year, he stepped up and saw what it takes to be a Beacon boy. He embodied one of our core values, courage, and used this to take on various leadership roles. From trying new exciting activities to joining in with festive fun, he completed a very long to-do list!

His journey began in the final week of November, when Headmaster Mr Baker spotted him perched proudly inside the Kindness Cup, letter in hand, ready for another year of adventure. From that moment on, Elfie was everywhere sprinkling Christmas cheer throughout the school. He helped decorate The Beacon, supported our teachers in festive workshops and even made a special appearance at our BPS Christmas Fair.

Along the way, he gained valuable insights from our Beacon Community. While shadowing our Kindness Cup winners, he learned what it means to lead with empathy and generosity. During a visit to the Library with our Year 2 boys, he discovered how curiosity fuels learning — how asking questions, exploring new ideas and sharing stories brings people together. He especially loved watching our Little Beacons Christmas Showcase and the Year 2 Singing Concert, where he discovered the courage it takes to step into the spotlight and perform.

As December unfolded, Elfie embraced Beacon Life with growing confidence. He joined in on numerous lessons, sporting activities and events.

By the end of term, Elfie had completed his mission to become a treasured member of our community once again. With a heart full of festive spirit and a notebook bursting with everything he learned, he’s now ready to return to the North Pole. We hope to see him again next year for further adventures!

We would like to take this opportunity to say farewell to Elfie and a very merry Christmas to our Beacon Community.
