Years 5 & 6 Trip to Lisbon
Our Beacon football players in Years 5-6 were invited for an exciting Football Tour to Lisbon! With five action-packed days filled with professional coaching, competitive matches and unforgettable experiences, it was definitely a trip to remember.
Our tour kicked off as the boys arrived at the beautiful Carcavelos Beach Hotel, where they blew off some much-needed steam with beach games before heading to bed for an early night.
The next day, our young players were thrilled to take part in a professional coaching session at Benfica Campus, before enjoying a delicious lunch at Tricana Restaurante, Praia de Carcavelos. The activities continued after lunch with more beach games and Fixture 1 vs Belenenses FC. Our boys played amazingly for their first match there, with a 8-3 victory from our Year 5s and another 4-0 victory from our Year 6s!
Day 3 was just as exciting, starting with a self-led training session at Estadio Universitario de Lisboa. After a tasty lunch out at, the team toured the iconic Estádio da Luz, home to Portuguese giants S.L. Benfica. The day wrapped up with Fixture 2 vs Alclitão FC, where the boys gave it their all, receiving two more wins (13-0 for our Year 5s and 8-1 for our Year 6s).
After a fun morning at Footlab, an interactive football experience and some friendly competition over UV indoor mini golf, the team prepared for a truly special match: Fixture 3 vs S.L. Benfica, played at the Estádio da Luz! This was an extraordinary opportunity for our players to compete against a professional club in one of Europe’s most iconic stadiums. The final scores came to our Year 5 team winning 9-7 and our Year 6 team drawing with 4-4.
The last day brought a new challenge… surfing! With expert guidance, the boys took to the waves at Praia de Carcavelos, followed by one last lunch at Tricana and a final round of beach games before travelling home.
We’re extremely proud of how hard our boys worked over the tour and hope they bring their new skills back to The Beacon for matches in the months ahead. Well done, boys!
