2024 – 2025 Sports Highlights

A Year of Great Achievements

As we wrap up our first week back, we’re taking a moment to reflect on an incredible year of sport at The Beacon. We’ve seen record-breaking performances, team triumphs and moments of individual brilliance.

A true highlight of 2024-25 was the phenomenal achievement of Philip A (Year 8), who broke a long-standing school record by clearing 1.75m in the High Jump at the IAPS National Athletics Championships, earning him the title of National Champion! Philip didn’t stop there – he went on to break both our Long Jump and Triple Jump records.

We also saw more record-breakers on the track with Finlay F (Year 8) smashing the 800m record with a staggering time of 2 minutes 20 seconds and Seb S (Year 8) who broke the U13 200m record with an outstanding performance.

In the pool, Xander B (Year 8) made waves by winning silver at the IAPS National Finals at the Olympic Pool, and was deservedly awarded a swimming scholarship to Harrow. Meanwhile, Geraint J (then Year 7) added to the excitement by breaking a school freestyle record.

On the slopes, a group of our Beacon ski-enthusiasts competed in the IAPS National Ski Tournament in Italy. Four of our boys were quick enough to qualify for a championship team, Dylan J (Year 8) was placed as the third fasted skier out of 300 participants and three Year 8 Beacon boys were awarded a bronze medal in the plate U13 (Nikolay A, Sebby T and Henry D-H). Fantastic result!

Team sports were just as thrilling:

  • Our U11 and U13 football teams qualified for the IAPS National Finals

  • The U13A rugby team enjoyed an unbeaten run in their October quadrangular fixtures

  • The U11A hockey team claimed victory at the Stowe Hockey Tournament

  • And the U13A (1st XI) cricket team took top honours at the Bloxham School Tournament

We can’t wait to see what our boys achieve this year with new talent, PBs and medals hopefully on the horizon!
