The world around us is changing fast. Artificial Intelligence is surely as significant as the Industrial Revolution, in terms of the change it will bring about. What will this mean for Beacon boys and their careers?
Transferable skills will become more and more important. Children at school today could experience several different careers, as new jobs emerge and others are rendered obsolete by AI and successor technologies. The World Economic Forum, in its Future of Jobs Report 2025 states that “an estimated 59% of the global workforce will need reskilling by 2030 to meet changing skills demands.” How can The Beacon prepare our boys for this world?
The Beacon is part of the Pre-Senior Baccalaureate (PSB), which has at its heart an emphasis on skills. We want our boys to develop awareness of where their skills lie. This is the first step towards transferable skills and being able to apply themselves to new and different situations.
We have nine Core Learning Skills, shown in the grid below.
This term I am launching The Big Skills Conversation, which is an opportunity for our parents to review our Core Learning Skills via a survey.
