Pre-Prep Lower School Middle School Upper School

Welcome from the Headmaster

I am passionate about independent education and a firm believer that exceptional schools produce exceptional people. The Beacon never stops driving forward and developing and changing to meet the needs of our boys today and preparing them for their future.

The Beacon’s reputation as a School where no boy is ever overlooked and each individual is inspired to fulfil his own academic, creative and physical potential within a caring, secure and stimulating environment has been well earned since our foundation in 1933.

“From the moment your son arrives at The Beacon, he will be encouraged, educated and enthralled by a dedicated team of staff who have one aim: to make every day at school a memorable one.”

The Good School Guide

“The quality of teaching is exceptional, but we most love the Pre-Prep for its traditional values, with mottos (constantly reinforced) like ‘be safe, be thankful, be kind’, or what it means to be a good sport. It’s just a happy, buzzy place. Our son has even started asking if he can leave home earlier in the mornings so he can have more time at School!”

Reception Parent

“There is always something to look forward to at The Beacon.”

Year 7 boy

“The Beacon School have offered us a home. A safe and professional space that gives our members an environment to flourish and perform in a wonderful accessible theatre. The Beacon School continue to generously fundraise for us each year, enabling us to keep our door open.”

Theatre Shed Charity

“It is more than a school and we have been privileged to be part of  The Beacon.”

“Everybody has different gifts…everybody is good at different things. At The Beacon we want to help each of our boys discover their talents and aptitudes.”

“There can be few Prep Schools with opportunities as diverse as The Beacon’s…and facilities to match!”

“The lessons for life our son has learned at The Beacon have been invaluable.”

“The only thing wrong with The Beacon is you can’t stop loving it!”

Beacon Boy

“To be world-class, The Beacon aims to help shape boys who are unique in their ambition to do their best in everything they do.  That does not mean being the best, but striving for their own best – in their efforts academically, musically, in sport, drama and with each other.”

Chair of Governors

“The Beacon do it all; from breakfast club at 07:30, bus services, a great range of after-school clubs to tea and care until 18:00. As working parents, this makes such a difference to our family life.”

“I have such fond memories of The Beacon; it gave me exactly what I needed to succeed at my Secondary School.”

“All the staff were extremely friendly and supportive, and people went out of their way to introduce themselves. It is a wonderful place to work.”

Support Staff

“We want Beacon boys to be secure, happy and confident in themselves and show kindness for others.”
