Gothic Inspiration for Year 7

15 January 2020

Last Thursday, Year 7 were visited by The Redheart Theatre Company. Seated in The Spinney Theatre, we had the pleasure of watching an actor perform three short plays – very enthusiastically! They were based on Gothic Tales. These included The Red Room by H G Wells, The Tell-Tale Heart by Edgar Allen Poe and The Signalman by Charles Dickens. He was very talented as he acted out many characters, all by himself and managed the sounds and stage lighting as well.

My favourite play was The Red Room as this was full of twists and turns and it was something I had not read or heard before. The play was about a haunted room in a castle where a man who didn’t believe in ghosts came to stay the night. He became overwhelmed by all the happenings and eventually was found on the floor (still alive…)! I think it was a wonderful way to start the morning and the whole of Year 7 enjoyed it.
