Rugby Success for Old Beaconian

23 September 2019

Monty, who left The Beacon in 2012 to attend Dr Challoner’s Grammar School, was always a keen rugby player and, after many years representing The Beacon, he went on to play for Dr Challoner’s as well as to attend the WASP Academy.

After his excellent A-level results this August, Monty joined McGill University in Montreal, Canada, where he is studying International Development and Business.

Even though he is a freshman, Monty was selected to play as fly-half for McGill University’s first rugby team last Saturday against Harvard University. The McGill team won with a convincing 47-15 score, and Monty himself scored eight of those points! Great work, Monty – we are all very proud of you!

Talk & Tours

Throughout August, our Headmaster, Will Phelps, and our Registrar, Jane Baines, are inviting future Beacon families to safely meet with him on our School site for a socially-distanced tour of our incredible school and an informal talk about your son and his education. “The largest single sex Prep School in the UK, The Beacon still has an impressively inclusive, family feel to it, with a focus on pastoral care and turning out well-rounded boys.”
