Design & Technology is an area where feelings come into play, of pride and satisfaction in achievement; in elegance of ideas and products of flair and creativity. Feelings which can carry over into all other aspects of their work in classrooms. There is a strong connection with Science as well as an after school club in Design and Technology.
The pupils work in wood, plastics, electronics and metals and use, apart from basic hand tools, specialist equipment such as vacuum formers and line benders. There is a computer suite in the design studio for computer aided drafting as well as simulation programs such as 'crocodile clips' and 'logicator'. Control technology has an essential part to play in the curriculum and in the area of computer aided manufacture we have a 3D milling machine, the Modela MDX-20 and a 30 watt Laser cutter which allows the pupils understanding and training in CAD/CAM.
