The Beacon is an independent day school for boys aged 3 - 13 years.  After 28 years of working in independent schools, 14 of which have been as a Head, I find myself increasingly convinced that the prep schools of Britain are world beaters - truly jewels in the educational crown of our country.  There is an ethos that cannot be quantified, a "magic" in the air which everyone gets caught up in.  Extraordinary things happen as a result.  Lives are changed for the better and our society benefits from the passion and enthusiasms of our pupils as they become young adults.
