The Bucks Examiner, Thursday 4 March features an article on two Beacon boys, Fitz Harding and Rory Pond, who have been selected to play for the England U11 Barbarians team.  About 800 boys from more than 150 prep schools nationwide took part in a series of trials for the team, and the newly selected national side will be going on a short tour to Northern Ireland in the near future.

The Bucks Examiner, Thursday 4 March includes article on The Beacon's win at the National Prep Schools Cross Country Championships at Malvern College on Sunday 28 February, competing against some 220 boys from 35 other schools from as far afield as Yorkshire and Cornwall. The Beacon boys were victorious in the U11 boys’ event. Angus Denison-Smith produced a superb performance to finish 2nd in the individual event, with Ed Mundy equally impressive in 3rd, David Willcox finished a strong 17th and the final team scorer was Sam Nicholson with another excellent run to finish in 30th place to secure the Championship victory. The other three competitors were Rohan Montgomery who finished 37th, Freddie Bowcock 42nd and Oliver Moir in 90th place overall. The prizes were awarded by Nick Goolab, the Under 20 European junior cross-country champion.  Extremely well done to all the boys who took part.

The Bucks Examiner, Thursday 18 February 2010 under the title "The Future's bright, the future's green at The Beacon" features a whole school photograph in the quad, in front of the 'recycled sculpture' made with plastic bottles.  The boys, and staff, wore green clothes, many made from sustainable products, and donated £1 each to WaterAid.  This was the finale to 'Green Week' - an opportunity across the whole school to raise the pupils' awareness of sustainable issues whilst having fun. 

The Bucks Examiner, Thursday 4 February 2010 has an article on our fundraising efforts to help victims of the Haiti earthquake.  Beacon boys have been donating their pocket money to the appeal.  Middle School boys have each taken home a tube of Smarties in which to collect coins.  Boys in Years 7 and 8 have donated up to 50% of their pocket money and boys in Year 6 have been donating to WaterAid.  So far £1700 has been raised.

The Bucks Examiner, Thursday 7 January 2010 features pupil James Gill who was 'Headmaster for a Day' in December.  He is photographed with Paul Brewster and Dean Collins, selecting his favourite lunch menu. 

The Bucks Examiner, Thursday 3 December contains an article and photo about our charity fundraising initiative for "Movember", to raise money for research into prostate cancer.

The Bucks Examiner, Thursday 12 November 2009 contains an article and photo on our third annual Maths Challenge for Year 6 pupils held on Friday 6 November. 

Teams from The Beacon, Chesham Prep, Godstowe, Great Missenden C of E School, Maltman's Green, Rickmansworth PNEU and St Mary's C of E School pitted their wits in four rounds of maths activities.

A team from St Mary's were the overall winners, with Maltman's Green second and The Beacon team third.

The Bucks Examiner, Thursday 24 September 2009 contains a feature on the new Headmaster, together with a photograph of Paul Brewster, on P. 6.

The Bucks Examiner, Thursday 28 May 2009 contains a photograph and article on the School's 75th anniversary party for pupils held on Friday 22 May (see P.4).

The Bucks Examiner, Thursday 26 March sports section contains an article on the success of The Beacon U11 hockey team and pictures them alongside the Headmaster.

The Bucks Free Press, Friday 20 March features The Beacon U11 hockey team, winners of the National Prep School Championship, pictured with the Clifton College (Bristol) Shield.  Other hockey successes this month include winners of the Bradfield College Hockey Festival, and runners up in the Yazoo National Mini Hockey Championships County Hockey Festival.  The latter qualifies them to represent Bucks in the South England stage of the competition. 

The Bucks Examiner, Thursday 19 March features pupils from The Beacon in their Comic Relief article on P.14. Boys and staff came into school in their pyjamas and donned red noses to raise a total amount of £1,586 for Comic Relief by doing something funny for money.

Channel 4 News, Friday 20 February 2009 - a Channel 4 TV news team visited the school recently to film an item about the school's weather station, and this was broadcast in the lunchtime news on Friday 20 February.

The Bucks Examiner, Thursday 22 January 2009 features an article on The Beacon's weather station and includes a photograph of Year 7 pupils learning about measuring and forecasting the weather (P.7).

The Bucks Examiner, Thursday 27 November 2008 contains an article on the official opening of the Osborne Building by Sir Jackie Stewart on Tuesday 25 November (see P.6).   Beacon boys are also mentioned in the sports section, P.93.
