Emails from The Beacon

Some parents have had problems with emails from us appearing to 'go missing'.  The most common reason for this is that the email has been automatically filtered out as junk mail.  This could either mean that it has been downloaded to your PC and then put in a Junk Mail folder, or alternatively that your service provider has filtered it out at server level before it even gets to your PC.  You should be able to login and check this, and many email systems have a facility to mark certain email addresses as being ‘trusted senders’ that should not be spammed out.  However, the exact procedure for doing this varies between email providers.

Website

Printing - You may find it useful to note that many website pages now have a Print button.  This enables you easily to print out the content of the page (without the menus, photo banner etc).

Mobile 'Phone Access - If you have an internet enabled mobile 'phone, you can connect to the website and view a cut-down version, especially designed for use on mobile 'phone screens.  This provides the Daily Update and calendar and fixture information.

Calendar - Events and sports fixture information are now combined into one calendar function - see Calendar menu.

By default, all events for the current term will be displayed but you can select a particular month from the drop-down box if required.

You can narrow down your selection by choosing a Category from the drop-down box, eg Sport, Arts & Music etc.  Within this, you can then make further selections of particular event types, for example in the Sport category you can select cricket, rugby etc.  You can then make a further selection to view events for just a particular group, eg 1st XI.

Use the + sign next to an individual day to expand the calendar and show all that day's events.  The + and - icons at the top of the page can be used to expand/collapse the whole calendar.

Selections can be printed via the Print button, or downloaded to Microsoft Outlook via the Outlook icon.

Click on an individual fixture entry to get directions for Away matches.

ClarionCall

ClarionCall can be used either to send text or voice mail messages.  If we send a voice mail message, you will receive a text asking you to call in to pick up your message.  You may find it useful to save the ClarionCall number (01315 146111), into your mobile 'phone address book to make it easier to call in.

More items will be added to this page in future.  If you have any suggestions for anything you think other parents would find helpful, please contact marketing@beaconschool.co.uk .
